When learning to draw figures, sometimes simple is best and drawing a figure can be difficult for some, but most times it’s how you approach the way of drawing a figure, in the following video I attempt to explain that drawing figures is quite easy if you plan your figures right with the use of stick figures. A figure drawing example is what I go through first and then I show you a page of different stick figures which should give you an idea how to draw some figures of your very own.

Draw Really Cool Stuff A Book Review
Posted by Wayne Tully in Drawing Book Review on July 2, 2010
Drawing really cool stuff you should really start with the things you enjoy drawing or feel inspired by drawing, a few months ago I wrote a review of a big book called Draw Really Cool Stuff which details stuff to draw and the stuff you can draw is presented in small drawing tutorials that actually show you how to draw some cool stuff from the ground up, you will see how to draw from basic shapes and simple structured lines.
You can learn to draw lots of cool things like Dinosaurs, cars, insects and fish and some would say that this is a book for kids, but no, I’m not a kid, although my son got this book for Christmas and I’ve used it more than him, so even I find the book useful to draw some stuff that I rarely draw anyway. So read the book review here – Draw Really Cool Stuff

Drawing life drawings is one important aspect of being an artist and one that really I should have taken notice of early on in my artist explorations, learning to draw real life stuff is equally important for your art style to come through aswell and start to shine, one of the reasons why I draw now is to try and learn to draw stuff that is real and would look life like, it’s a challenge that I hope to achieve!

How To Draw Fantasy Worlds
Posted by Wayne Tully in Draw Fantasy Art, Drawing Videos on June 29, 2010
Drawing scenes of imaginary fantasy worlds can be fun and all you have to do is picture a scene, maybe from real life from a photo or within a film and away you go, get sketching, here I present a video series of how to draw a fantasy world scene and in this drawing video series I draw a castle surrounded by some mountains and it’s a classic way of drawing a castle and once again I hope to do more fantasy world drawing ideas on video and as stand alone drawing tutorials.
The first video as always is the first sketches video and it goes through the basics of laying out your scene compostion and because I am a quick sketcher you can see the basic draft drawing unfold right before your eyes….
The second drawing video really develops that first sketch and builds it up a layer, so that you can start to see the fantasy scene more clearly, it’s about drawing and sketching more detail in there, but also developing the drawing as a whole and that’s what I think I achieved here I think!
And lastly the third drawing video really darkens everything and makes it more of a solid drawing of a fantasy world scene, check the video out below to see a more shaded version of a fantasy scene….

Lightboxes are ideal for artists as you can use them to improve your drawings and develop them further, also you can change drawings and see how they will look with the aid of a lightbox, additonally animators starting out may use a lightbox to practice drawing underlays of characters in multiple animated forms.

How To Draw Fantasy Creatures
Posted by Wayne Tully in Draw Fantasy Art, Drawing Videos on June 28, 2010
Fantasy creatures are a perfect example of using your imagination to create a great creature, looking to horror films and comics for inspiration is a must for the artist to feed the mind with new ideas, whenever I myself am watching a movie with monsters and otherworldly creatures in it, I often start to think on what I could draw and it plays on my mind until I actually get the chance to draw something as sometimes it’s just not possible to have my sketchpad at the ready as I used to as my mrs wants me to rub her feet whilst we watch a horror film, classic eh?
So here I will present you with a way to draw your own fantasy creatures with some examples you can follow or be inspired by, the secret is to try and draw and sketch up some solid ideas beforehand and then see what happens.
The 3 part video series will walk you through drawing a fantasy creature and I will do other video examples to add to this one, because drawing creatures of any kind is just so imaginative and fun.
The first video lays the foundation of the drawing really and so it is fairly basic, but you can get an idea of how to start a drawing of a fantasy creature, so take a look at the first video and see how to approach this type of drawing from scratch.
The second drawing video, you see the creture becoming more solid in it’s design, with some detail that needs to be sorted out after, but it’s good to see that when a drawing takes off you can just run with it, watch the video and see how the drawing is coming along, so you can try and draw something like this for yourself.
The third drawing video I start to shade the fantasy creature and it does start to look better as you do this and the whole drawing video series is quite explanatory when you watch then all in order, so watch the third video to see how the drawing turned out and also to draw your own fantasy creatures.
If there are any other drawing tutorials or any thing you would like me to create so you know how to draw it, then please comment below, because I do enjoy drawing this stuff, even if I am a little obsessed!!

Quick Creative Drawing Tips: Save Every Drawing You Do
Posted by Wayne Tully in Creative Drawing Tips on June 26, 2010
Saving every drawing you do should become second nature to you as you build up old sketches that are not up to much as far as your starting out art style is concerned, but they still represent ideas and concepts that can be re-designed and re-used at a later date when your art improves, take a look at this video to see an example of my own art and how I changed it into a slightly better sketch after 13 years.
